Somalia: Communication and Reporting Officer

Center for Education and Development (CED) is a Non-Governmental, non-profit and non-political humanitarian and Development Organization established in 1992 with the main of advancement in education, humanitarian aid delivery and developmental programs in Somalia. CED works with vulnerable communities in order to eradicate illiteracy, insecurity, poverty, injustice and inequality. Its main areas of interventions include but not limited to education, emergency relief, livelihood, food security, agricultural support, Water and Sanitation,(WASH) Nutrition, Peace building, capacity building, environmental protection and women and youth development. CED has implemented projects funded by various partners including Oxfam Novib and its affiliates, UNHCR, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, UNOCHA, FAO, and CARE International among others. Most of CED’s projects were implemented in Banadir Region (Mogadishu), Lower & Middle Shabelle, Galgaduud and Mudug regions of South-Central Somalia.

CED seeks to recruit committed Individual to work with CED as communication and Reporting Officer.

General Responsibilities

Under the overall and supervision of CED Program Coordinator, the Communications and Reporting Officer will assist CED in the collection and dissemination of information and communication strategy of the program, advocacy activities, donor liaising and fund-raising. He/she will represent CED in the UN and international agencies meetings in Nairobi, Kenya. He/she will make presentations and submit CED activities and achievement to all concerned partners and donors. The Communication and Reporting officer will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to Somalia.

Qualifications

1. Advanced University degree in communications, media studies, international development, humanitarian affairs, international relations, social science or other relevant area.
2. Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience with NGOs and Donors particularly in the area of fundraising, advocacy, communication and information management.
3. Strong experience in fund-raising and partnerships strategies.
4. High level experience in presenting emergency and development works to donors.
5. Strong ability to review and edit reports and other written documentation for dissemination and publication.
6. Ability to develop and present information and communication products for a range of different audience.
7. Demonstrated ability in proposal & Report Writing Skills

Languages

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.

Contract period: one year, with possibility of renewal
