    Project Name Somalia Resilience Program
    The Somalia Resilience Program (SomReP) is a multi-year effort by seven leading NGOs to tackle the challenge of recurrent droughts—and the chronic vulnerability that results—among pastoralists, agro-pastoralists, and peri-urban households across Somalia. Designed to address communities’ unique needs toward building resilient livelihoods, the program builds on collective lessons learnt by consortium members World Vision, Oxfam, DRC, COOPI, CARE, ADRA, and ACF.

  2. Consultancy background and Purpose
    Consultancy Background The consultant will conduct qualitative in depth research into areas identified during previous research as warranting further in depth analysis by SomReP and its academic partners.

  3. Conduct in depth qualitative research based on tools designed with SomReP technical unit and its academic partners
  4. Conduct in depth qualitative research on thematic areas identified by the SomRep Technical unit and its academic partners.
  5. Consolidate and provide analysis of qualitative research conducted.
  6. A report of the consolidated qualitative research with high level primary analysis in conjunction with SomRePs academic partners
  7. Discussion and sharing of findings and original transcripts with SomRep academic partners

  8. Person specification
    Key competences, technical background, and experience required
    Experience:
    a) Knowledge of Resilience measurement in Somalia preferably through a consortium
    b) Experience in resilience research in Somalia and the Horn of Africa
    c) Recognized qualitative research expert (researcher whose work has contributed to books, academic journal articles) in Somalia
    d) Fluent in Somali
    e) Considerable experience of conducting qualitative research in Somalia
    f) Experience of conducting in depth qualitative research in Gedo and Puntland
    g) Knowledge of mixed methods approaches.
    h) Experience of conducting qualitative research incorporating VCA and PIA tools in Somalia
    i) Experience in conducting qualitative research looking at Resilience.
  9. WV Responsibilities during consultancy
    a) Arrange and fund all international flights and Somalia travel/ logistics, including visas
    b) Arrange accommodation and meals
    c) Provide Security Briefing to consultants
    d) Review all plans/ tools before use
    e) Review all reports and provide feedback
    f) Liaise with local implementing partners on behalf of the consultant
    .
