The Youth Development Specialist will provide overall technical expertise for the youth development component of a USAID funded Somali Youth Leaders Initiative (SYLI) program. S/he will be responsible for preparation of project designs; and implementation of cross-sectoral youth assessments, youth livelihoods, technical and vocational education training, youth civic participation, grant management or other related areas.
Responsibilities and Tasks

• Linkages with the private sector and support networks
• Monitoring and reporting
• Coordination and Representation
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator
Qualifications (Know-How)
• Bachelor's degree in International relations or related field
• 5 years’ experience in youth development
• Must demonstrate at least 5 years’ work experience in developing countries, including in conflict-affected environments
• Excellent written and oral communication and facilitation skills
• Team player, who is able to develop strong collaborative relations across the organization, in both the program and program support departments
• Good leadership and negotiating skills
• Strong gender and conflict analysis skills and the ability to articulate and design programs using rights based approach
• Proven budgeting and financial management skills
• Ability to work and live under difficult conditions
