The Health and Nutrition Technical Specialistwill implement Health and Nutrition projects through a variety of community structures, including community groups, user committees and LNGOs. The position is responsible for all aspects of implementation, including partner identification, hiring and performance management of World Vision staff, capacity building of partners and World Vision staff, proposal and budget development and report writing. The Health and Nutrition Technical Specialist will take an active role in assessments and evaluation exercises in an effort to improve quality and increase scope of Livelihood programming. The position is the key focal point at the field level for Livelihood programming and will share information to relevant cluster groups, coordination mechanisms, government ministries, and INGO/LNGOs. The position will take a lead role whenever possible at such forums.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide support in developing proposal designs and program designs in collaboration with, local structures, Program Design Unit and Technical Advisors.
  • Establish and oversee implementation of sound financial systems for efficiently controlling the quality of technical Health and Nutrition project works/activities by closely tracking work progress against payment and work plans and controlling the quality of final project outputs as per the donor and user community expectations.
  • Hold regular progress meetings with partners and staff to review project performance and address challenges to implementation.
  • Staff appraisal and feedback mechanisms in place and updated.
  • Work closely with local structures to facilitate the implementation and sustainability of Health & Nutrition interventions.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field (international development/ International relations).
  • Humanitarian standards (SPHERE), specific trainings on donor requirements e.g. DEC, g2g training, GoG Training, EuropeAid training, Security training.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field of development issues, humanitarian emergency affairs, preferably with experience in developing countries.
  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
