Position:Logistics Officer

Place of Performance: Mogadishu, Somalia

OVERVIEW OF CTG GLOBAL

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

The Head Logistics Officer will plan formulation in the area of logistics. Participate in planning programme and supporting on logistics considerations. Provide technical and operational support as well as providing advice on application of logistics management, systems and procedures.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

· Identify logistical bottlenecks and propose the ways to fill in the gaps and ensure proper distribution mechanism is put in place.

· Ensure appropriate fleet management for vehicles managed under the emergency and stabilization programming including vehicle rentals utilized by service providers, movements, maintenance/repairs, fuel supply, accident reports, etc., as well as manage rental of vehicles and ensure proper insurance coverage and safe running conditions of vehicles.

· Direct and supervise stockroom management practices, in order to ensure there is no undue overstocking or loss.

· Control supply stock and monitor consumable materials, in order to provide staff with timely replenishment of used items.

· Monitor and track assets procured for the various projects within the emergency and stabilization portfolio as well as the project assets and consumables to ensure there is no waste, fraud or misuse of equipment or materials and that surplus or excessive stocks of equipment are not being held.

· Ensure all stocks and equipment held by the project is stored safely, correctly and securely depending upon the item classification.

· Manage logistics procurement transactions filing system.

· Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Logistics, assets, inventory and Cargo handling including customs clearance procedures.
  • Minimum Diploma or Certification in Logistics and Procurement is advantageous
  • Should have mature judgement and be able to supervise staffs.
  • Good negotiating skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relation and forwarding agents and transporters

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, possess strong interpersonal skills with an ability to take and give clear instructions in a courteous manner.
