Country: Somalia
Closing date: 23 May 2013
Somalia is in a state of political and social transition. The advent of the Somali Federal Republic in August 2012 has been met with a lot of optimism by both the Somali people and the international community. While security remains a priority for the new government, the restoration of public services is high on the agenda.
However, the capacity of the Ministry of Human Development and Public Services within the central and local administrations and within institutions at all levels in service delivery remains weak. The ministry lacks the capacity in terms of human resources to put in place policies, systems, strategies and procedures and manage and sustain public services. In order to address these the Ministry of Human Development and Public Services would like to recruit Somali Diaspora with profound experience and expertise in the following areas:-
- Administration
- Education Policy and Teaching
- Primary Education
- Alternative basic Education
- Private Education
- Higher Education
- Finance
- Curriculum
- Construction Engineer
These technical experts will be embedded within the Ministry of Human Development and Public Service and will work closely with the Education Programme Manager and the Director General while being an important team player of the Government’s Go-to-School initiative.
The Go-to-School Initiative: Education for Resilience is a very ambitious initiative which targets one million Somali children and youths. The program aims to increase equitable access to quality formal basic education to all school aged boys and girls as well as targeting unemployed and vulnerable youth through alternative education and vocational training.
