OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Our client’s portfolio and partners provide basic public goods and work to accelerate socio-economic recovery and create long term change in Somalia. Our client contributes to a well-coordinated international effort in Somalia, based on partnership between agencies that engage across the interlinked areas of politics, security and development. The activities are clustered around two priortities:
· Priority One: Strengthening Core Economic Institutions
· Priority Two: Expanding Economic Opportunity
The selectivity criteria that our client has applied in developing the programme are: (a) alignment with the Compact and the country’s binding constraints, (b) alignment with our client’s comarative advantage in the Somali context, (c) operational feasibility given security and access, and (d) conflict sensitivity, in particular the need for regional balance. This approach ensures that our client focuses scarce resources and capacity in areas.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
The Operations Support Officer will play a key role in supporting our clients programme and partners ensuring day to day operations between regional authorities and government counterparts on behalf of our client’s portfolio at national and local level supporting the foster of a national framework. This
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
Education:
· Preferred post-graduate degree in a development-related discipline (such as economics, urban planning, rural development
Work Experience:
· Minimum of two years of international experience preferably in complex and inter agency contexts in areas related to development planning, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation etc.
· Project management and operations experience with thorough knowledge of government functions
· Familiarity of working with national and local government systems in Somaliland

· Basic research and analysis
o Generates new ideas and approaches, researches best practices and propose new, more effective ways of doing things.
o Documents and analyses innovative strategies and new approaches.
Language Requirements
· Fluency in English is desirable
· Knowledge of Somali is essential, Arabic desirable
