Somalia: Lead Baseline Analyst FAO/26/2013

Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and of the Project Manager/ CTA and the direct supervision of the Research Officer,
the Lead Baseline Livelihoods Analyst will focus on the following areas and tasks:

• Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and of the Project Manager/ CTA and the direct supervision of the Research Officer, the Lead Baseline Livelihoods Analyst will focus on the following areas and tasks:

• Lead and deliver on FSNAU’s baseline livelihood analysis and activities, including rezoning and updating livelihood baselines, piloting of one urban baseline assessment, development of methods and tools for livelihood asset analysis, and baseline applied research.

• Participate in capacity development trainings for government counterparts and civil society in HEA approach, livelihood analysis

• Provide the overall lead to the FSNAU Baseline Resource Team to deliver on planned baseline assessment and analytical activities, providing focused engagement in building FSNAU technical capacity in baseline livelihoods analysis.

• Lead in the development and implementation of the FSNAU Baseline Livelihood Somali Integrated Spreadsheet (SIS) generating food security projections for seasonal assessments and modelling the impact of shocks and hazards.

• Draft livelihood baseline reports and profiles for all newly updated livelihood baselines and update all baseline livelihood profiles applying the framework of Livelihood Assets and Strategies.

• Participate in applied research study to inform a greater understanding of underlying causes of food and livelihood food insecurity related to baseline livelihoods and produce an FSNAU technical series report on the findings.

• When necessary as part of FSNAU’s core analytical activities participate in field work in all parts of Somalia, both baseline and seasonal assessments.

• Participate in Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) Analysis Workshops as requested

• Make written contributions to the FSNAU food security reports, including field mission reports, assessment reports, etc.

• Participate in livelihoods technical meetings and workshops, representing FSNAU as the lead Baseline Livelihoods Analyst. Also participate in other technical meetings and discussions to ensure effective contributions using FSNAU analysis and data.

• Any other duties as requested by the Research Officer and CTA.

Education:

• advanced university degree in related field

Work Experience:

• minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in livestock and pastoral issues in Somalia

Languages:

• English & Somali
