Major Responsibilities
- Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient's charts or cards.
- Assess and plan nursing care requirements by monitoring and administering medication and intravenous infusions and taking patient samples and vital signs.
- Prepare for and assist the medical doctors in clinical activities whenever required.
- Refer to the Medical doctor in charge r to the doctor on call relevant information such as patient's status and laboratory results which would assist in proper clinical management.
- Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other persons in a position to understand patient care requirements.
- Responsible for provision of standard medical care for all patients and specifically perform over 5 years consultations using standards treatment guidelines.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients' relatives.
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Maintain and submit nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies and placing orders for drugs and supplies.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in Continuous Medical Education and other training.
- Give health education to patients and clients.
- Participate in the provision of in-service training for enrolled auxilliary nurse.
- Compile and submit daily/weekly and monthly reports.
Personal Qualities
- A mature person of high professional discipline and moral integrity.
- Knowledge of local Somali language.
- Previous experience within a humanitarian aid organization, in particular working in primary health care programs and conducting nursing.
- Strong counselling skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Competent to work under stress as the situation may dictate.
- Ability to work with displaced communities with diverse cultural and ethnic background.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions.
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a health program set-up.
- Experience working with a non-profit humanitarian organization preferred.
- Flexibility at work.
- Has excellent management skills.
- At ;east has successfully attended IMCI training for the qualified health providers and carry certificate on that.
