ROLE, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Project Manager will be responsible to implement the projects for GBV prevention and response among internally displaced populations (IDPs), host community and returnees in Mogadishu (Banadir region) and Baidoa (Bay region). The project will be implemented over 12 months in partnership with three local partners and funded by UNICEF. This position will report to the Somalia Protection Coordinator, who will provide technical and financial oversight for the project. The candidate will assist the Protection Coordinator in planning, implementing and coordinating the projects/activities in the field. Additionally, s/he will be involved, through active and regular participation, in supporting the coordination of the GBV working group and Protection Cluster in Mogadishu and Baidoa. Specifically, s/he will be responsible to:

• Supervise the work of the INTERSOS GBV and livelihood officers in their daily activities providing technical support, ensuring regular coordination and information sharing among the field staff; • Regular support and mentoring of the GBV staff of the three local NGO partners to provide quality assurance for case management, use of the CPIMS and trend analysis, prevention activities, human resource and financial management, reporting and M&E, supported by the Protection Coordinator. • Review and validate monthly reporting of the local NGO partners, conduct monthly monitoring and coordination meetings with the M&E Officer and provide regular reporting updates on project progress and performance to the Protection Coordinator; • Support the field team in developing and implementing the GBV referral pathway in target districts of Mogadishu and in Baidoa; • Support the field team to design and implement participatory prevention activities to mobilize the community (leaders and youth) to conduct awareness sessions and developing behavior change communication material in Somali language with technical support of the GBV Coordinator; • With the support of the Protection Coordinator liaise with key government counterparts regarding the implementation of the project activities such as Ministry/Directorates of Justice and Ministry/Directorates of Social Affairs; • Regular and active participate at the GBV WG in Mogadishu and Protection cluster meeting in Mogadishu and Baidoa; • Collect, compile, and analyze GBV report data monthly report and share with the Protection coordinator; • Supervise the Monitoring and Evaluation officer, with support from the GBV Coordinator, and ensure that monitoring information and learning is incorporated into project implementation; • Translation of project materials and to support INTERSOS Protection Department when conducting capacity building activities ( trainings and workshops); • Perform other related duties as required by the Protection Coordinator.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• University degree in education sciences, international relations, social sciences, or other related field (e.g. sociology, social work, psychology, law and human rights); • At least 2 years work experience in the humanitarian field and in emergency context, as Project Manager, in relevant work area (e.g. GBV prevention and response, community services, social work/counseling); • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, capacity building, project design and budget management; • Previous experience in conducting trainings for government officials, non-governmental organizations and/or in protection settings is essential. Experience in training of trainers is a strong asset; • Proven record of providing training and workshop on GBV prevention and response is desirable; • Availability to move often through the Area of competence and familiarity with the women’s right situation in Somalia is desirable; working experience in Somalia is a plus. • Excellent analytical and communication skills; • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with local staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders; • Ability to travel and work in stressful situations and at times, in hardship field locations where INTERSOS offices are located; • Computer literate; • Fluency in written and spoken English is required; Somali is an asset.
