Under the overall supervision of the Officer in Charge (O.I.C.) FAO Somalia and of the Project Manager/ CTA and the direct supervision of the Food Security Technical Manager to provide programme support in the formulation, monitoring and reporting of the field programme at country office level. In particular to:
Specific Objectives and Tasks
• Assist the Food Security Technical Manager and senior analysts in methodological improvements of food security monitoring data collection and analysis
• Work closely with Agriculture, Livestock and Urban Senior Analysts in the development of sector-specific analytical framework under the overall guidance of the Food Security Technical Manager
• Assist in the revision of tools used in food security assessments/surveys and any other ad-hoc assessments
• Liaise with Senior Analysts, field staff and partners for any information needs as requested by the Food Security Technical Manager
• Edit copy (grammar, syntax, punctuation and spelling) to improve readability of articles and chapters of all food security publications, including Technical Series, Quarterly Briefs, Website updates, etc.
• Ensure timeliness and delivery (well written) of all submitted papers
• Develop presentation materials and reports as requested by the Food Security Technical Manager
• Assist the Senior Analysts and second agriculture and livestock leads in the technical writing, compilation of graphs/tables for any ad-hoc publications.
• Assist in developing new ways of data presentation in terms of graphs, tables, etc.
• Support the FSNAU Food Security Team in any type of food security analysis and research (literature searches, analysis, write-up, etc.)
• Participate in internal and external events such as meetings, trainings, and necessary field trips that relate to the food security assessments
Education:
• University degree in relevant field (in social research methods, development studies, agriculture, economics)
Work Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in research studies and report writing
Languages:
• Fluency in English & Somali languages
