Country: Somalia
Closing date: 13 Feb 2015
The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) in Somalia is working to support the Federal Government of Somalia’s stabilization efforts and to deepend the rule of law in Somalia. IDLO’s philosophy in Somalia is based on the belief that Somalia’s quest towards peace can be best addressed if local people are involved in reconciliation, and when there are direct community initiatives and ownership over peace initatives.
Focal Areas:
As part of IDLO’s program Strengthening the Linkages between the Traditional Dispute Resolution and the State Legal System in Somalia*IDLO works in partnership with the Traditional Dispute Resolution Unit (TDR Unit) of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs (MoJC) to improve relations between disengaged combatants classified as low-risk and the communities they are seeking to return to, through community forgiveness ceremonies and working with community elders and *uluma.
As part of this grant project, IDLO will support small scale projects relating to reconciliation and reintegration, for activities that support and restore community relations, while enhancing people’s well-being and livelihoods, taking into account gender and equality concerns. To note, due to funding restrictions, no funds can be directly spend on low-risk disengaged combatants as part of these grants. The grants must also be spent in the districts of Habarweyne, Hamarjajab, Kismayo and Baidoa.

Maximum duration of each project is 7 months.
